A & R in Irvine
Sandra opened the door and walked into the room. Mark sat.
John just stood outside and squinted.
Sandra could see the front door.
Sandra was thinking about her Selectric typewriter. “Oh, man...”.
The Selectric sank. John stood on the stoop and looked at the door.
Sandra spoke three words then stopped.
Five words later John turn(s) his eyes to the street.
Sandra, then reached... the door knob.
Sandra asked John, “tea?”
John asked, “hot?”
Sandra said ,”no, why?”
John looked at his watch.
The tea service is silver plate.
^dark music^
Sandra said, “soon it will be iced tea.”
^jazz music playing^
Sandra laughed.
^whistling wind^
John listened.
“the whistling wind blows...” Sandra sang.
John started to dance.
^disquieting music^
John turned. Sandra stopped dancing. She picked up the knife.
Mark stepped into the room. Sandra buried the knife into Mark’s chest.
